British Columbia Parliament Buildings

The British Columbia Parliament Buildings are home to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. It is the highest seat of government for our province and provides the working offices for our premier and MLAs. It is also the site of many of the city’s largest gatherings, from public celebrations to large and sometimes volatile protests. Add to this the hundreds of visitors that tour inside this stunning heritage building every day, the publicly accessible dining room and gift shop, and the photo and film shoots that occur frequently on the grounds and you have one of BC’s most challenging security environments.

 The building has a full complement of security staff with professional backgrounds in military and law enforcement who patrol and protect the building and grounds. When the decision was made to build a new monitoring center to serve as the command hub for security operations Versatech was engaged to design and build the security systems. Having already installed the extensive access control systems throughout the building and being the primary provider of security systems for BC Government facilities in Victoria, Versatech had the knowledge and experience required to make this complex project a success.

 This project included the installation of a new dedicated security data network throughout the building, design and provision of the furniture and equipment within the command center, and the replacement of old analog video and intercom systems with state-of-the-art high definition, IP audio and video systems throughout the building.
